first real post...from Burkina

hey ya'll, we have been here in Burkina for about a week now. I am full up of shots and malaria pills, and staying with a local family of 6 here in ouahigouya (in the north of Burkina not too far from Mali). My host family is amazing of course, the dad is a carpenter/woodcraftsman and the mother is a seamstress whose sewing ,achine hums me to sleep at night over the cackles and moans of the neighborhood goats and donkeys. The food has been great, and there is still lots to try of course, but ill give you a typical day for now...for breakfast:black tea, bread and a sort of cream of wheat, for lunch rice with peanut sauce, and dinner has often been fish and sweet potatoes with a super super yummy tomato sauce. Snacks include bananas, oranges, peanuts, and its watermelon harvest right now, so lots of that too!!! im gonna call ita day for now, but new posts should be up in about five days...see you then!! oh yeah, this is a shot of the regional king, who actually has some serious clout and whom had to approve our presence here over the next couple of months.
